Potter DIY: Hogwarts Blazer
Add a touch of magic to your Muggle wardrobe with this awesome DIY Hogwarts blazer! This very casual, very easy-to-make blazer is a great way to show House pride wherever you are. This is great for reviving old articles of clothing just sitting in your closet, cosplaying, or even giving as a gift.
This DIY comes to us from Marie over at the Joy of Fashion. Be sure to check out her blog and thank her for this awesome tutorial.
What You’ll Need:
- Blazer
- Hogwarts patch
- Safety pins (3 should do)
- Black thread
Directions:
Step 1: Grab an old blazer or suit jacket from the back of your closet or purchase a new one specifically for the DIY (the one featured is from Forever 21).
Step 2: If you don’t have one already, purchase a Hogwarts patch (these usually cost between $5 and $15 – this one will do the trick).
Step 3: Place the patch wherever you’d like it to be on your blazer, and secure it using safety pins. Make sure to try the blazer on once you’ve pinned the patch so that you’re absolutely certain you like it.
Step 4: Once you’ve selected a spot, begin hand-sewing the patch onto the blazer using black thread. It shouldn’t take any more effort than resewing a button – just ensure that you sew as close to the patch as possible to avoid the stitching being too noticeable. If you don’t know how to hand-sew, just use Google to find a tutorial – there are tons of ‘em out there.
And that’s it! Get out there and rock your new Harry Potter-themed blazer in style. Thanks again to Marie for this awesome DIY. Check out our others on our Potter DIY page.
